In Loving Memory of Ernest “Bo” L. Ward, Jr.
Ernest L. Ward, Jr., 76, a resident of Rising Sun, MD, departed this world on January 4, 2024, in Perryville, MD, surrounded by the warmth of his son’s home.
Ernest, born on July 5, 1947, in Elkton, MD, to Gladys May Hotchkiss and Ernest L. Ward, Sr., graduated from Elkton High School in 1965, becoming a dedicated lifelong Cecil County resident. A distinguished Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Ernest earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Bronze Star. For 17 years, he contributed his skills at Gore and later served Cecil County as a Master Electrician, fostering the growth of future generations in his field. An enthusiastic farmer and avid boater, Ernest relished every opportunity to explore the bay and engage in crabbing. In retirement, he found joy as a member of Buck’s Shuffleboard League. Ernest’s legacy will endure, deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Hotchkiss Ward and Ernest L. Ward, Sr., as well as his younger brother John Earl Ward, Ernest is survived by his loving children John J. Ward (Christina) and Kendra Ward Harris, his cherished granddaughter Lauren Harris, and his sisters Gladys Ward Roper and Sandra Ward Craine. A memorial service will take place on February 2, 2024, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home – 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD, at 11:00 AM. The family will be available to receive friends starting at 10:00 AM.
