Edward de Garbolewski, beloved husband, father, grandfather, leader, mentor, and collector passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025 in Wilmington, Delaware at the age of 88.
Ed was born on March 2, 1936 in New Haven, Connecticut to Casmir and Margaret (Broomall) de Garbolewski and grew up in Media, Pennsylvania. Ed attended Drexel University, where he completed a dual masters degree in Engineering and Finance in 1957. After short careers with Boeing and SKF, he joined W.L. Gore & Associates in 1963 as their first product specialist. He was passionate about his extensive career with Gore and held the role as Business Leader for the Industrial Division and retired in 1999.
Ed had many passions in life; collecting antiques, sports, cars, animals, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He was often found at antique or car shows, his shop in Chesapeake City (Black Swan Antiques), at auction houses, on the tennis and basketball courts, playing poker and bridge, and enjoying visits with his loved ones.
Ed was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa, and leaves behind the love of his life of 59 years, Brenda, children Bridget Neff, Karen Johnson, Jamie Curtis (Dave), Mark (Terri), ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held for Ed with details to be shared at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Judes, Tunnel to Towers, or your favorite charity.
