Dennis Dallas Leffew, 83, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Dennis was born on May 18, 1941, in Royal, West Virginia, to George William Leffew and Nona Belle (Reedy) Leffew. Raised with a strong sense of family and duty, he carried these values with him throughout his life, impacting everyone who knew him with his kindness, dedication, and unwavering work ethic.
Dennis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, embodying a spirit of resilience and bravery that remained with him long after his military service ended. A true jack of all trades, Dennis applied his talents primarily in HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical fields, earning a reputation for his skill, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Beyond his professional work, Dennis had a passion for fixing and building things, always eager to tackle a new project or lend his expertise to help others. He was also an avid fisherman, finding peace and joy in the simplicity of casting a line and spending time in nature.
Dennis is lovingly remembered by his wife, Valerie Leffew, children: Denice Leffew and fiancé Albin, Danny Leffew and fiancé Cassi, Dustin Leffew and wife Bri, James Leffew and wife Dawn, Dennis Leffew Jr., Steve Leffew, and Angelique Leffew. He was a cherished grandfather to Kinsley, Kennedy, Dante, Emilio, Leon, Otto, Chad Jr., Brianna, Wiley, Stephan, Summer, and Ro’an, who will miss his warmth and love dearly.
He is survived by his siblings, Roy Leffew and wife Brenda, Jim Leffew and wife Judy, Marshall Leffew and wife Donna, George Leffew Jr. and wife Diana, and Brenda Moulton. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nona Belle Leffew; his brother, Tom Leffew; and his sister, Mary Lynch.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Dennis’s legacy, with details to follow. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories, celebrate a life well-lived, and remember the many ways Dennis touched their lives. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
