Millard Wilson Barker, age 91, of Colora, MD went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Oxford Health Center in Oxford, PA. Born on May 12, 1927 in Ashe County, NC, he was the son of the late William and Pearl (Hamby) Barker.
Millard was a long-time member of New Bridge Regular Baptist Church. He was a self-employed home builder for over 60 years, taking great pride and pleasure in the construction of every home he built. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, watching WWE wresting, and Baltimore Orioles or New York Yankees baseball games. Millard will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Willie Mae Barker, and his son, Conley Barker.
Millard is survived by his daughter, Sharon Barker of Port Deposit, MD; grandson Jeff Barker of Rising Sun, MD; granddaughter, Lynn Cloud of Elkton, MD; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Emmitt Barker of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded by three brothers: Fred, Lee and Gene Barker.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A Celebration of Millard’s Life will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at New Bridge Baptist Church, 37 Wyatt Lane, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow in the adjacent cemetery.
