Mildred H. Pugh, 93, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Clark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clark, NJ following a brief illness.
Born June 26, 1921 in Rocks, MD, Mildred was the daughter of the late Henry Edgar and Mary (Iley) Hildt. Mildred attended the Oxford Friends Meeting and Brick Meeting in Calvert. Before retiring to Rising Sun, Mildred and her late husband, Sam lived in Clark, NJ where they had raised their family and were very active members of Plainfield Friends Meeting. Following retirement they delivered Meals on Wheels to Cecil County residents for 22 years. Mildred enjoyed the company of friends and family, and in her home she was always reading or working on a crossword or jigsaw puzzle.
Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Samuel H. Pugh, who passed away in 2006, and her brother, R. Elwood Hildt. She is survived by her two sons, John E. Pugh and his wife, Madgie, of Hopewell, NJ and Kenneth W. Pugh and his wife, Tina, of Rahway, NJ; two grandsons, James K. Pugh of Hopewell, NJ and Michael J. Pugh of Stockton, NJ; sisters-in-law, Jane Hildt of Mechanicsburg, PA and Mary Tice of Quarryville, PA; niece Nancy M. Reynolds of Rising Sun; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.
Burial at Calvert Friends Cemetery will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 11am, with a reception at noon at Oxford Friends Meeting House, Oxford, PA.
