Michael Joseph Pannell, Sr. age 72 of New Castle, DE passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born on December 11, 1951 in Wilmington, DE to the late Joseph Pannell and Louise (Cotta) Pannell.
Michael was a proud United States Army veteran, serving from 1974 to 1978 as a Staff Sgt for the Colonel in Service Intelligence. Michael loved spending time at Delaware Park watching live horse races. His interest came from growing up with 2 brothers who were jockeys. Michael often enjoyed talking about different history.
Michael is survived by his sons: Joseph W. Pannell (wife, Christina), and Michael J. Pannell, Jr.; brother, John Pannell; sister, Judy Hassinger; former spouse, Sheila Pannell-Miller; grandchildren: Jonathan Pannell, Kirsten Pannell, Cameron Hensel, and Maeson Hensel; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey.
Michael is preceded in death by his sisters: Louise Pannell, and Velma Pannell; brother, Patrick Pannell; and son, Daniel Anthony Pannell.
Services will be held privately.
