Dear Meilli, I will always cherish our long and deep conversations. I loved you like a sister and I knew you loved me too. As someone else said, Heaven has a new Angel. You and Ilse are there together. It is with a heavy heart that I say good bye to you both. See you again someday. Sandi

We enjoyed Meilli and Rick’s company many times over a period of several years at the San Lin Restaurant for Friday Happy Hour. Meilli’s singing, gracious presence and bright conversation were a consistent positive influence on the group. We also recall many enjoyable times with Meilli and Rick at the Delaware Saengerbund, on local bus trips, and house parties.

Meilli will forever be remembered as a gracious, good and beautiful woman who brought class to everything she touched. She was bright and articulate and extraordinarily talented. I met her in the 1960's when she married our dear friend, Don Shire. I never saw him happier. Although the marriage did not endure, she, nonetheless, remained a good friend to him and brought much comfort to him in their later years. I shall never forget the warm hospitality that she showed to my son Bryan and I when we stayed with her and her husband Rick on our eastern trip in 1999. Typical of Meilli, we found a warm and comfortable bed awaiting us with a cookie on our pillow and a beverage on the table nearby. They graciously escorted us to many of the patriotic landmarks. We have nothing but fond memories of our time together with them and always wished the miles between us were fewer. God bless you, Meilli. You will be missed by many...
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I had no idea that Meilli was ill. We missed her at the chorus after the death of her husband. They were such a delightful and fun couple and I got to know them for such a short time. I send my heartfelt sympathy to her family and am also saddened by this news. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Thank you for informing me of this sad passing. She was such a charming and lovely lady. God bless. In friendship, Trudy
