Maynard Tingley, Sr., 81, of Petersburg, WV, passed away at his home on November 21, 2012.
Born in Monticello, ME on April 21, 1931, Maynard was the son of the late Walter and Georgia Ellen Miller Tingley and was raised in Littleton, ME. He was a carpenter by trade, and was also a talented builder, having built his own homes in West Virginia and Florida, as well as building projects for others. Maynard was a truck driver in Maine for 37 years before moving to Elkton where he worked as a groundskeeper at Spirit and Life Church for many years. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Church of God of Upper Tract, WV.
He is survived by his wife, Irene S. Tingley of Petersburg, WV; two sons, Maynard Tingley, Jr. of Houlton, ME and Luther Tingley of Elkton, MD; 3 daughters, Carolyn McCarty of Elkton, MD, Jan Messick of Lincoln, DE and Donna Bell of Middletown, DE; 5 step children, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his first wife Hattie who died in 1986 as well as 5 brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park.
