Matthew J. Johnson, 43, of New Castle, DE, passed away at his home March 16, 2014.
Matt was born in Wilmington, DE on February 8, 1971. He worked at KAD as a hose fabricator for 14 years. He loved raising his son as a single parent, enjoyed the outdoors and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all, he enjoyed his family and always put them first.
Surviving are his mother, Connie L. Brooks and stepfather Thomas Brooks of New Castle, DE; a son, Matthew Jon Johnson, Jr, also of New Castle; and a brother Billy Potter, Jr. of Mountain City, TN; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A service honoring his life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 2:00. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Connie Brooks for funeral expenses c/o the funeral home.

I just met Matt, this past fall. It was in a professional capacity. I was in immediate need of a hose to be made. I showed him a remnant of what had failed and explained what the application was. He went to the shop and returned quicker than I thought he would. I was expecting to hear him tell me that, he couldn't find what I needed or I'd hafta wait a day or two. Instead,... He handed me EXACTLY what I needed and assured me that it would work. I appreciated his assistance AND his manner. He put me at ease and I had no trouble taking him at his word. Matt was a Craftsman, a Gentleman, AND a gentle man. My most sincere condolences go out to his Family and Friends. There aren't words that are likely to soothe. May Peace & Strength visit your Hearts and stay. I dealt with him a few more times, after our initial consultation. He always was professional and pleasant. KAD has lost an invaluable member of their team, and condolences go out to his Family there.
