Maryanna Ward Holm, 92, of West Grove, PA, passed away February 11, 2015 at Jenner’s Pond Assisted Living.

Born in St. Louis, MO on January 10, 1923, Maryanna was the daughter of the late Carl and Edna Schober Hoefel. She attended the University of Missouri and was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority and served as District Governor. She was a talented singer and was the lead alto soloist for community choral performances of Handel’s Messiah. She was the choir director for St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for 25 years. Maryanna taught at the Sterck School for the deaf, and for many years was admissions director for the Kentmere – Home of Merciful Rest. She was a crewman on the family’s sailboats, played Bridge and also enjoyed a good game of tennis.

Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Bart E Holm; two sons, William Christian Ward (Bea) of Anaheim, CA and David Robert Ward, Jr. (Linda) of Hines, OR, and a daughter Megan Ward Wolfe (Chris) of New London, PA; and seven grandchildren, Zac, Christian, Blade and Nathan Ward, and Ben, Stefan and Jesse Wolfe. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Robert Ward, Sr. and her sister Dorothy Mae Banks.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday February 21, 2015 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 with a visitation beginning at 10:00. A reception will be held at Jenner’s Pond at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
