Mary Louise (Lou) Russ, 87, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully at her home February 26, 2014.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ on February 1, 1927, Lou was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Manee. She was a graduate of Montclair State College and earned an MA in History. Before her marriage, she was a fourth grade teacher in several schools in New Jersey. She then spent her life devoted to her family. Although living in New Jersey, the family spent many weekends and summers in Elkton and eventually settled there. Lou enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader but her first priority was her family who will dearly miss her.
Surviving are five children, Daniel C. Russ, III of Keene, NH, David C. Russ of Red Spring, NC, Mardi Russ and her husband Steve Parrott, Margaret Russ, Marie Taylor and her husband Todd, all of Elkton; 19 grandchildren, Stephanie Russ, Maggie Mitchell, David Russ, Jr., Jessica King, Dylan King, Ethan Russ, Lalita Russ, Oliver Russ, Michael King, Jr., Lily Russ, Isaac Russ, Sarah Russ, Jordyn Parrott, T.J. Taylor, Noah Russ, Wylie Russ, Hunter Taylor, Eric Russ and Ryan Taylor; and four great grandchildren, Luke Walther, Anya Mitchell, Chloe King and Thomas King. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Daniel C. Russ, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday March 15, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 105 N. Bridge St., Elkton, MD 21921. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
