Mary Lou Knox, age 82, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. She was born on December 7, 1935, in Elkton, MD to the late William Lee and Mary Louise Potts Preston.
Mary Lou, born and raised in the Elkton area, worked for 30 years in the personnel department of Union Hospital, becoming the Director. After her retirement at Union, she worked as an administrative assistant in the medical office of Dr. Hsu for 19 years.
In her spare time, Mary Lou involved herself in crafting floral arrangements and lovely Christmas baskets that she would give to her family and friends. She enjoyed gameshows on the TV with her grandchildren and loved to read a good book. Another of her hobbies was collecting duck decoys, which adorned her house. She was also known for her cooking skills and enjoyed hosting parties and gatherings for her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Knox of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughters, Marie Andersen and her husband, James; Theresa Cornell and her husband, Dale; Lisa Knox, all of Elkton, MD, and Deborah Knox and husband Walter Rickert, of Waldorf, MD; daughter-in-law, Sharon Knox, of Elkton, MD; sisters, Janet Pritt and husband, Karl, of Golts, MD, and Linda Miller and husband, John, of Rising Sun, MD; twelve grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Hugh Knox; son, Michael Allen Knox; grandchildren, Brian Knox and Michael Sadler; great grandchild, Gabriel Hensley; and four brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 455 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Friends and family may visit one-hour prior in the Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Cherry Hill, MD.
