Mary Lou Benjamin, age 77, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on April 27, 2017. Mary Lou was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 29, 1940 to the late Wilson N. Brown and Louise E. Brown.
Mary Lou worked for 23 years as the clerk treasurer for the Town of Rising Sun. She traveled all around the country square dancing and enjoyed scrapbooking. Ed and Mary Lou volunteered as camp hosts for Hungry Mother State Park in Marion VA for 20 years. She was an avid collector of both Boyd’s Bears and Luray Pottery. Mary Lou loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was highly regarded by her nieces and nephews. Mary Lou adored her pet poodle Bailey.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas (Ed) Benjamin of Rising Sun, MD; son, Alan J. Benjamin and his wife Robyn of Essex, MD; sister, Joan Picharillo of Toms River, NJ; granddaughter, Lindlee Geschwind of Essex, MD; great granddaughter, Ellie Geschwind of Essex, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved pet poodle, Inkie.
A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the funeral home, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
