



Mary Louise Winterborne Ayars
Mary Lou Ayars, 81, of Lunenburg, MA, formerly of Newark, DE passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Health Alliance Hospital, Leominster, MA.
Born August 8, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA, Mary Lou was the youngest daughter of the late Reverend Edwin and Thelma (Masner) Winterborne. She was a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic until 1962. She worked as a switchboard operator, a sales clerk, and in customer service for Sears and TruGreen until retiring in 1999. She was a lifetime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Newark, Delaware, a member and past president of the United Methodist Women, and a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed making ceramics, reading, going out to eat and word search puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Her husband of 45 years, Mark C Ayars predeceased her in 2001. Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Lynn E. Ayars of Lunenburg, MA and two grandsons, Kristopher J. Kauffman of Enfield, CT and Mark A. Kauffman of Lunenburg, MA; her brother, Frank Winterborne of California; her sister-in-law Betty Ayars of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 11am Monday, April 13, 2015 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery, Newark, DE. In memory of Mary Lou, donations may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church and sent in care to the funeral home.
