Mary E. Jones, age 64, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. She was born November 13, 1949 in Ashville, NC to the late Howard and Georgia (Lewis) Dougherty.
Mary was a homemaker and spent her life loving and caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. She took joy in the simple pleasures that nature offered and enjoyed watching the birds and butterflies in her yard.
She will be missed by her children, William Ovie Jones, Jr., of Elkton, MD, Howie Daniel Jones and his wife Lisa of Oxford, PA, Sherry Lynn Holley and her husband Howard of North East, MD, and Georgie Marie Lester of Elkton, MD; 11 grandchildren Mervin, James, Howie, Timmy, Howie Jr., Hanna, Hayden, Cassie, Hazel, Holden, and Hutch ; sisters Betty Fuller and husband Neil of North East, MD, Wanda Bonham and husband Junie of Butler, TN, Christine Hernandez and husband Joe of Perryville, MD, and Gina Cleary and companion Junior of North East, MD; brothers David Dougherty and wife Chrissy of Chesapeake City, MD, and Bob Dougherty and wife Helen of North East, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband William Ovie Jones, Sr., a sister Rebecca Dougherty, a brother James Dougherty, and a grandchild Clarence Jones, Jr..
A service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PA, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. Friends and family may visit one hour prior beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Sharp’s Cemetery in Fair Hills, MD. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.
