As my niece would say, Mary is one wonderful lady who really knew how to make her dash count. What a gift knowing her was! As children we enjoyed visiting Reg and Mary (and their lambs) at their Concordville home. After my dad, Reg's cousin Earl, died, Mary kept in contact with Mom and knew all of our children. She would call for brief chats and was always conscious of the cost when Mom called her. We would look forward to seeing Reg and Mary at family reunions where Reg would entertain our children, mostly with his painting, and Mary would boost them with her warmth and truly-interested-in-you questions. Eventually she even astounded me by remembering the names of my grandchildren--known just from birth announcements and Christmas pictures. Mom, Jan, and I visited her in Maryland only once--and it was a wonderful day talking about family, flowers, birds, and life. She truly loved and felt loved by her family and living close-by was a blessing for her. The last time I talked with her was around her birthday, about two years ago, when I called for Mom, whose own memory was very limited. Mary didn't recognize my name, but acknowledged that and did seem to make a connection with Mom and Dad. Even without knowing me, we had a wonderful conversation about flowers her niece had brought her, the birds she had been seeing, and the rainbow side of life. She is one of those people you just don't forget.

Mary and Reggie were my across-the-street neighbors on Brinton Lake Road. Mary was a dear and vibrant lady, always interested in telling my youg boys about the marvels of nature-especially regarding birds. Additionally, I still have her recipe for sweet pickles! All these years later, I still think of that stone ranch house as "Mary Palmer's home". "Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His godly ones." Psalm 116:15

I grew up adoring Aunt Mary. I always wanted to go up to the nursery with my Dad and visit Aunt Mary (& Uncle Reg). She was one of the warmest loving people I have ever met. My earliest memories are at their place in Concordville on the property where Mary grew up. Aunt Mary was always making something delicious. A couple of my favorite things were her soups & waffles with chicken & gravy. My visits were always filled with nature, the lambs & their mothers, turtles, nature walks & picking flowers. Her sheep loved citrus rinds and I can hear them crying for a treat as soon as Aunt Mary opened the door both in Concordville & on Brinton Lake Rd. The nature walks expanded when she moved to Brinton Lake Rd and we could explore Tommy Palmer's wonderful nature preserve. Aunt Mary was there for my Dad & me when my Mom passed away. She and Uncle Reg came with my Dad to my college graduation in Frederick, MD She later welcomed my step mom, Joy, into the "family". Though I didn't see her as often after she moved to Rising Sun, she always had a very special place in my heart and was one of the most important women in my life. God bless Aunt Mary!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to get to know Aunt Mary. Mary took my Aunt Dot "under her wing" at Calvert Manor when my Aunt had first arrived from NJ. I joined the Calvert Manor "family" working in the Activities Dept.and was able to spend wonderful time with Mary. It was through Mary that I was able to meet her lovely sister Esther and there I found a kindred spirit and a love of unusual "friends" I will miss the times I got to share with Mary, but I will always hold a special place in my heart for her.

As I was completing this Share A Memory Form I came to the "Relationship" field. I immediately put Family. Although I am not, Aunt Mary always treated me like family. We shared a love of family, friends, flowers, hummingbirds and rainbows. After the rain the phone would always ring and it would be Aunt Mary "Do you see the beautiful rainbow outside" she would ask. She always brought the beautiful things in life to my attention. RIP Aunt Mary. I love you.
