Martha J. Lyon, age 77, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Born on January 20, 1946, in Elizabeth, NJ, Marty was the daughter of the late George B. Lyon and Janice Mary Lyon (Jack).

Marty attended Upper Darby High School in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania and later graduated from Denison University in Ohio. For 27 years, Marty was a buyer for John Wanamaker and Woodward and Lothrop department stores. When she took time for herself, Marty enjoyed her adventures as a lifelong traveler. She explored countries like Italy, Russia, Egypt and many more. Marty will be missed by all who knew her.

Marty is survived by her niece, Tracey L. Curtis (Dave); great-niece, Susannah Curtis; great-nephew, Philip Curtis; cousins: Dian Randall Wooten, Geoff Randall, and Kerry Randall Fizz; dear friends: Cheryl Dean and her family and Leslie Bullock. In addition to her parents, Marty is preceded by her brother, James J. Lyon and cousin, Michael Randall.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:30PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may begin visiting at 2:30PM. Burial will be private.
