Mark L. Scherer, 58, of Newark, DE, passed away July 4, 2016 at Seasons Hospice, Christiana Care after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Camden, TN on September 22, 1957, Mark was the son of the late Kenneth and Virginia Gary Scherer. He was a 1975 graduate of the Sanford School. He attended the University of Louisville and University of Delaware. He received his AAS in Accounting from Del Tech. He was a driver for Guy Johnson Transportation and worked for 12 years at Mike’s Famous Harley Davidson in the parts department. He loved dogs, enjoyed cars, but motorcycles were his passion. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 34 years, Julie Ryder Scherer; two daughters, Caitlyn Fauci and her husband Christopher of Washington, DC, and Gayle Scherer of Newark; a sister Jeannine Scherer of Salisbury, MD; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 3-6 pm at Skipjack restaurant, 401 Louviers Drive, Newark, DE 19711. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made payable to the Sanford School and sent in care of the R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
