Marilyn Key Rowland, age 84, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Rising Sun, MD and West Jefferson, NC, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Ware Presbyterian Village.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday May 4th at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel, 2005 Mt Jefferson Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694, with services officiated by Rev. Larry Shepherd. Burial will follow in Burkett Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to funeral service.
Mrs. Rowland was born in Ashe County NC June 26th 1930 to the late Henry Arthur Key and Clyde Barker Key. Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Rev. Arthur Lee Rowland, Jr. and one grandchild, Davey Rowland, Jr.
Mrs. Rowland is survived by her son, Eddie Key and wife, Jeannette of West Jefferson, NC; daughter, Sherry Lea Perry and husband, Tom of Conowingo, MD; son, David Rowland, Sr. of Port Deposit, MD; one sister, Judy Brooks of Rising Sun, MD; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Marilyn worked as an inspector for W.L. Gore & Associates until her retirement in 1988. She loved to cook Sunday and Holiday dinners and bake her special recipes for cookies, cakes, and pies for her family. She was an avid gardener and was often seen with her beloved dog, Bud.
