Marie Elaine Deitzel (Elaine), 83, of Port Deposit, Maryland, passed peacefully on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 17, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the cherished daughter of the late Cardiff and Erma McComas (née Goodrich).
A devoted wife for 53 years, Elaine was the high school sweetheart of Leonard Deitzel, who preceded her in death in 2015. Their enduring love story remained a cherished cornerstone of her life and a beautiful example for their family.
Elaine found profound joy in life’s quieter graces. She possessed a deep love for classical music that filled her home and heart. She attended concerts whenever possible, creating lasting memories with those she loved—most recently sharing a magical evening with her daughter Kimberly at a Candlelight Vivaldi Concert last fall. She was the family’s beloved historian and keeper of memories, meticulously collecting photographs, stories, and anecdotes that wove together the rich tapestry of their shared heritage. With a graceful sense of style, she took quiet pride in her appearance, thoughtfully coordinating every accessory to complement her outfits, always presenting herself with elegance and care.
Above all, Elaine’s greatest love was her family. She delighted in her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great matriarch, pouring her gentle strength and unwavering affection into every generation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Leonard; her fraternal twin brother, David McComas; and her sister, Carolyn McComas.
Elaine is survived by her children: Eric Deitzel, Kenneth Deitzel, Patricia Deitzel, Carole Deitzel, Teresa McKenzie, Kimberly Deitzel, and Sara Deitzel; her grandchildren: Leonard O’Connell, Tyler Deitzel, and Derrick Deitzel; her brother, Richard McComas; and many beloved extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with warmth and grace.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00AM at the R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at New Bridge Baptist Cemetery.
Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her gentle spirit, devotion to family, and appreciation for beauty in music and everyday moments leave an indelible legacy of love.
