Maria had a 20-stall horse farm on 5 acres in Homestead, FL for many years before she moved to Ocala. She had a love of animals over people. Her sparkle of her eye was her horse Tinkerbell who moved to Ocala with her. She later in life had another animal daughter named Tweet who she showered with more animal love and became her partner in crime up until the last day. Tweet brought Maria lots of love and laughter.
She was a member of many Churches and blessed many lives by volunteering and donating her life towards others. Fort King Presbyterian Church – member of Congregational Care committee; leader in relocating woman with dementia to safer assisted living housing; cleaned out her home of belongings and liaison with woman’s out-of-state daughter; provided her home for those needing shelter during hurricanes, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church – volunteered with food donations to community and Wings of Faith Thrift Shop Interfaith Food Bank. A fellow Christian and her lifelong friend since moving to Ocala said that Maria loved the Lord, but she could Raise Hell. Maria loved to dance and researching things. She served at the Episcopal Church food giveaway for a long time. She had a heart of gold an unending self-reliance.
Maria was a massage therapist since 1994 and worked until her last days. Many were blessed to receive her healing hands. She was smart and an extremely hard worker. She lived life her way.
Maria moved to Ocala in 1983 with horses and kids in tow. She had a gift for being able to write challenging letters being a legal secretary for many years and also a Farm Secretary and an Equine Insurance Agent when she moved to Ocala, FL. Maria had a skunk for many years named NuNu. The skunk stayed in the house in a huge cage and would take baths in the garden tub.
Her favorite food was double pepperoni pizza which she channeled through her grandson Kendall in her final days. Maria was a chocolate Connoisseur and had plenty of stocking for her dessert.
