Marguerite “Peg” M. Schaefer, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Harry Harrison Hall and wife, Nannette Charlton Hall and was born on March 15, 1929 at Newark, NJ.

Marguerite was a medical secretary for several years and an elementary school secretary for many years until taking early retirement. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and sharing in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Marguerite recently moved to assisted living in Wilmington, DE after having been a resident of Newark, DE for 55 years.

Marguerite was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Louis W. Schaefer on July 27, 2009. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ross H. Hall. Survivors include her sister-in=law, Chris Hall of Napa, CA; son, L. Allan Schaefer and wife, Deborah of Hot Springs Village, AR; daughter, Donna Strengari and husband, Steve Sr. of Lovell, ME; son, Jay Schaefer and wife, Lisa of Worton, MD; daughter, Gail Young and husband, Jimmy of Middletown, DE. Nine grandchildren, Danielle Ambrosano and husband, Frankie; Jennifer Szmanowski and husband, Mike, Kelly Bedford, Emily Copenhaver and husband, Bruce; Steve Strengari, Michael Strengari, Andrew Young and wife, Brittany, Brianna Shetzler and husband, Bart and Tori Strengari. Nine great-grandchildren; Kate Szymanowski, Cody Duff, Tyler Bedford, Gianna Winnington, Ryne Szymanowski, Caleb Duff, Bella Latzgo, Hudson Shetzler, and Gracynn Young.

A memorial service will be held at 10am at the Christiana United Methodist Church, 21 W. Main St., Christiana, DE, Thursday, January 18, 2024 with Rev. Candy Miles officiating. Burial will be private at the Veteran’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Ivy Gables in Wilmington for taking good care of Mom. We would also like to thank Delaware Hospice for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of R.T. Foard Funeral Home.
