Margaret Lucille Tiffin, 81, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was born February 19, 1932 in Akron, Ohio, a daughter of the late Annamae and James Caine. She was married for 55 years to her college sweetheart, James Richard Tiffin, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2010 .
Marge was a graduate of the East Akron High School and she received a Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University, Kent, OH. Of her schooling, Margaret, enjoyed college, but she really enjoyed her high school, participating in a number of clubs and activities. For most of her adult life, Margaret was a stay-at-home Mom to her four children. She also worked as a real estate agent until she left to care for her grandchildren. Margaret was a great reader, she could always be found with a book or nook near. Margaret also loved to play bridge. She was fortunate enough to enjoy the wonderful warm friendship of the same group of bridge ladies for 50 years. Margaret’s greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by her children, son, Daniel James and his wife, Linda of Northeast, MD; daughter, Melissa Tiffin Witt and her husband, Bill of Elkton; son, Scott Ramsthaler and his wife, Brenda of Northeast, MD; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Tiffin of Winfield, PA., wife of son David, who predeceased her. Margaret was also a grandmother to Allison, Tyler, Rebecca, Scott, Andrew, Bradley, Christopher, Mallory, Michael, Stephen, and great-granddaughter Riley. She has one brother-in-law, William Tiffin and his wife, Doris, of Plainsville, IL, and one sister-in-law, Maryann Kiehl of Omaha, NE.
She is predeceased by one brother, James Caine; and one brother-in-law, Phil Kiehl.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 West Church Road, Newark, DE 19711. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in care of the of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
