Madolyn Mae “Lynn” Leatherwood, 87, of Childs, MD, formerly of Mount Airy and Frederick, went home to be with the Lord May 6, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Washington, D.C. on April 23, 1926, Lynn was the daughter of the late Robert and Edna Altman. She attended Nashville General Hospital Nursing School until she left for health reasons. Following that, she worked at Grove Lime Co. in Frederick. She married Calvin Russell Leatherwood in 1946, beginning her married life in Mount Airy before moving to Frederick. She was a member of Frederick County Homemakers, and was one of the charter members of South End Baptist Church in Frederick. Most recently, she attended First Baptist Church of North East. She enjoyed home remodeling, was a talented crafter and seamstress and loved her collection of over 350 bears.
She is survived by her son, David Leatherwood and his wife Cheryl of Rising Sun; and a daughter Kate Galyen and her husband Art of Childs; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Leatherwood.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of North East on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921.
