Madolyn Louise Cox Harris, age 87, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 3, 2016. She was born on March 21, 1929, in Colora, MD to the late William and Dorothy (Bell) Cox.
Madolyn was a long time employee of Henkles and McCoy in Rising Sun and also worked for Chrome Dairy. She enjoyed bowling, baking, crocheting and roller skating. She baked cakes for 30 years and if you live in Rising Sun, you have most likely eaten one of her delicious cakes. Madolyn helped teach children how to swim and loved traveling to Disney World, which was one of her favorite places to visit.
Madolyn is survived by her children: Deborah Lambert, Lynn Harris, and Roxanne Harris and her fiancé, Chris Farmer all of Rising Sun, MD; grandchildren: Timmy Lambert, Michael Harris, and CJ Farmer; one great-grandchild; sister, Evelyn Cox White of Colora, MD; brother, William Cox of Miami, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Cox and sisters: Mary Lou Mitchell and Barbara Carson.
A service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 1:00PM at West Nottingham Cemetery, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the , “Alzheimer’s Association” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
