Lutchman Ramcharan age, 76 of Elkton Maryland passed away peacefully at his home on August 20th 2025.
He was born on October 18th,1948 in the Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago to the late Hapchan and Ramdai Ramcharan.
His life was a shining example of a true patriot living the American dream while also helping others do the same.
His exceptional skills in large ship pipe-fitting and drafting, earned him a coveted invitation to come to the United States to help with the building of the biggest battleships and supertankers of the time at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York.
He lived in Astoria, New York and then Elmont, New York before finally settling in Elkton, Maryland in 2002.
He retired while working for the General Motors Corporation,
where he worked as a hydraulic engineer, helping build cars on the factory line. He was even awarded for his great contributions to the company.
Lutchman was a deep lover of Christ and family. He was a cheerful giver always giving to others whenever he could. Lutchman was an avid golfer and even came in second place in the nation playing in a General Motors competition one year.
He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed feeding the wildlife around his home.
Although Lutchman enjoyed great success in his career and life, his stated greatest success was that of fulfilling his dying father’s wish to sponsor the rest of his family and bring them to the United States so they can also partake in the American dream.
Lutchman is survived by his wife of 41 years, Juliet Ramcharan; son, David Ramcharan and his fiancé, Denise Agostini; granddaughter, Sophia Ramcharan; siblings: Ramdath Ramcharan, Sita Ramcharan, Donna Oudai, Lenor Bridgemohan, Judy Rattan, Radha Ramcharan, and Sharon Bhagwandeen; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his siblings: Soonardai Samlal and Arjoon Ramcharan.
A celebration of Lutchman’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 10:30 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to “Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
