Lucille Virginia Goins, age 80, from Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024. She was born on January 10, 1944, in Asheville, NC, to the late Chester Franklin Sharp, and Virginia Irene (Sheffield) Sharp.
Lucille was a woman of many talents and passions, finding pleasure in gardening, sewing, crafting, baking, and collecting antiques. Her love for cats was well-known, and she could often be found with her feline companions, whom she adored. Lucille was deeply committed to her faith. She loved working at the First Baptist Church of North East, MD and Destiny Community Church in Newberry, FL. Lucille’s dedication to her family, her passions and her faith will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
Lucille is survived by her loving husband, Everett D. Goins, Sr.; sons: Jerry Lee Powell, Jr. and Everett D. Goins, Jr.; daughters: Mary Jane White, Betty Jo Hawkins (Gerard), and Kelley Yoakum; grandchildren: David Hodges, Jennifer Begin, Stephanie Wileman, Bailey Yoakum, and Hunter Yoakum; great-grandchildren: Kendal Hodges, Harvyn Begin, Meyer Begin, Aubrey Bowden; sisters: Barbara Walters, and Ruth Craig.
In addition to her parents, Lucille is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rodney White.
A celebration of Lucille’s life will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD where family and friends may begin visiting at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park Cemetery, 198 Appleton Road, Elkton, MD 21921. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “First Baptist Church of North East, MD”, sent in care of funeral home.
