Louise Laws Press, 93, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017. Born on August 3, 1923 in Glasgow, DE, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Flora (Rickards) Laws.
In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her husband, William L. “Bill” Press; brothers: Edward J. Laws, James C. Laws, and Raymond C. Laws; and her nephew, Kenneth Laws. Louise is survived by her sister, Norma Laws Schuyler; sister-in-law, Virginia Press Briccotto; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Louise was a graduate of Newark High School as well as Goldey-Beacom College. After her graduation, she went to work for the Budd Company in Newark, DE, previously called the Continental Diamond Fiber, from 1941-1972. She then went on to work for the University of Delaware as a secretary to the Vice President of the University from 1972-1983. Louise loved spending her time basking in the sun, either in her backyard or on a Florida or Delaware beach. She was an avid reader, enjoyed walking, and loved watching “her boys” – the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. She also enjoyed attending the Newark High School Southern Delaware Lunch Bunch at Jakes. Louise will be remembered as a very proper, dignified, caring and classy lady who was very devoted to her husband.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, with a visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will follow the service at St. George’s Cemetery.
