Lou was born in Parkville, Maryland to Edna Schimpf and Clarence Aubrey Burton. He was the younger brother to Audrey Necker and Grace Montgomery Burton. He enlisted in the Navy and worked on a mine sweeper in the North Pacific during WWII. It was there that he developed a love of Alaska and all its natural beauty. After WWII he met and married Jean Burton, the love of his life, and they remained married for 64 years until his death. They have two children, Douglas Lloyd Burton, married to Barbara Burton, and Phyllis Marie Burton. Lou has two grandsons, Kyle Burton and Giovanni Sanchez married to Sasha Sanchez (they have three children, Sashianni, Giovanni Jr., and Germanni). Lou is Uncle to Grace Snyder and her husband, Bob, and to Stephen Roberts and his wife, Kathy.
Lou will be missed by all. His was a personality larger than life itself as anyone who knew him will firmly attest. His humor and lively loving spirit will remain with us always. He was predeceased by sisters Grace Montgomery and Audrey Necker.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
