Lois Ann Craig, 86, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born on May 20, 1938, in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of the late Claude and Edna (née Livingston) Peno. She was the devoted wife of the late Floyd “Woody” Craig, who preceded her in death in 2020 after many wonderful years of marriage.
Lois dedicated much of her life to serving others, particularly as a beloved cook for the Cecil County School System. She brought warmth and kindness to every kitchen she worked in, most recently at Bayview Elementary School, where she was cherished by both staff and students. Known for her gentle demeanor and exceptional culinary skills, Lois made every meal memorable—whether at work or in her own home.
A woman of many talents, Lois found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid puzzle enthusiast, spending countless hours immersed in solving jigsaw puzzles with her sister, Susan Peno, crosswords and brainteasers. She also had a green thumb, cultivating a beautiful garden that showcased vibrant flowers and fresh vegetables. Her meticulously landscaped yard was a reflection of her dedication and love for nature.
Lois’s affection extended beyond her human connections to her four-legged companions. She had a special place in her heart for cats, caring for many throughout her life and giving each one a loving home.
Lois will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her daughters, Cathy Craig Stewart and Anita Craig, as well as her grandchildren, Christopher Murrin and Justin Stewart.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lori Craig, and her cherished grandson, Steven Zakreski.
