Lisa Morgan Wiegand, 48, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home after her courageous battle of fourteen years with cancer.
Born March 27, 1967 to Arthur Breder and Helen Gehringer, Lisa was well known and admired by many throughout her community. She graduated from University of Delaware in 1989 with her BA, and then went on to graduate school at West Chester University where she received her M.Ed in 1992. She started her career in 1993 as a guidance counselor at Rising Sun Middle School where she retired in 2006 due to her illness. Anyone who knew Lisa, knew that she was an avid Eagles and Flyers fan. She was kind and loving and showed tremendous courage and fought through her illness with dignity, character, and concern for others over herself.
Special thanks go out to Dr. Martha Hosford and her staff of nurses and caregivers at the Union Cancer Center for their kindness, dedication, and support.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband of twenty-three years, William Douglas Wiegand; son, Zachary Wiegand; daughter, Makenzie Wiegand; two sisters, Mary Harke and Elizabeth Jacobs (Jake); brother, Andrew Breder (Robin); mother, Helen Gehringer; father, Arthur Breder; stepmother, Margaret; and numerous friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, George Gehringer and grandmother, Mary Smith Oerther.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Janes Methodist Church 213 N. Walnut Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 20, 2015 at Janes Methodist Church where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Union Cancer Center” and sent in care of R.T Foard Funeral Home, P.A 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
