Lewis (Lew)Herbert Newman, born 10/10/1942 in Point Pleasant, NJ, passed away quietly and peacefully on April 19, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife Donna and sister Barbara as well as 2 daughters, Patty and Julie, stepson Paul, and grands & great grands.
Lew is veteran of Navy Seabees including service in Vietnam. He loved riding motorcycles, on and off road and was an active member of the Delaware Enduro Riders for many years. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time out on the boat especially with his best mate, Peanut (a smooth fox terrier). He loved spending quality time with his daughters and grandchildren taking the crew on boat rides to his favorite sand bars and beaches, towing them on tube rides, and pulling crab pots. Days ended with a huge crab feast and fun tales of the day.
More recently he loved spending time in his garden, growing a plentiful abundance of beans, zucchini, and his prize tomatoes. When he wasn’t gardening, he and Donna enjoyed going to Harrington Casino.
As we honor Lew’s memory, we are reminded of the many cherished moments we all got to spend with him and the love that remains in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
All services are private. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Lew’s honor and send in care of the funeral home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
