Lawson M. Trantham Jr., Age 92, of Rising Sun, Md. Went to his heavenly home on July 18, 2026. He was a man who loved the Lord and his family. He was raised in the mountains of North Carolina. He had a strong work ethic and resilient spirit and love for his family instilled by his Appalachian roots. He left at a young age to work in the auto industry in Detroit Michigan. He was later transferred to the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Delaware where he spent 34 years. He later settled in Rising Sun, Md where he and his cherished wife Mildred began their new life. He enjoyed farming where he had a small beef farm.

He and his wife Mildred were married for 65 years. They created a loving home for their children and grandchildren. They were known as Pa and Momom to their grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and named his boat “Jake” after his grandchildren’s initials. He was a man of faith and was a member of Porter’s Grove Baptist Church, where he helped build the new church building.

Lawson is survived by his son Boyd Trantham of North East, Md., his daughter, Brenda Johnson(Doug) of Rising Sun, Md., Granddaughters, Jaclyn Phillips (Josh) of Honea Path, S.C., Alyssa Buskirk (Steve) of Tucson, Az, Kimmy Garrant (Brad) of Lincoln University, Pa., Emily MacKereth (James) of Hanover, Pa., and Nicole Omar of Kingston, Pa. Great grandchildren Gracen, Nora, Sadie, Arlo, Julian, Cade, West, Abraham and Hope. He is also survived by his Sister Louise Phillips of Andrews, NC. and brother Bill Trantham of Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

In addition to his wife Mildred, he is preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Sallie Trantham, Andrews, N.C., brother Howard Trantham of New Hudson, Michigan, and his sister Marvie Raxter of Andrews, N.C.

Dad left behind a legacy of love for his family and an attitude of hard work pays off. He will be dearly missed by his family, and his absence will be sorely felt by those who loved him. Services will be private. Interment will be at Rosebank Cemetery.
