Laura Marie Herr of Elkton, MD, age 60, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020. Laura was born on September 10, 1959 in Levittown, PA to Jacqueline (Burley) Herr and the late Frederick Herr.
Laura worked as a Wetlands Section Manager for Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control where she retired in 2012. She was a professional ski instructor at The Big Sky Resort in Montana where she held a Professional Ski Instructors of America mountain division level 3 certification. She belonged to the Ski Divas. Laura was also an expert sailor who studied with the Sea Education Association and raced J24s in Annapolis, MD. She was an accomplished musician; she played guitar and sang in the rock band, Gossamer Wings. She loved dogs and dogs loved her. Her broad interests and talents also include: birding, backpacking, traveling, navigating and cheering on any Philadelphia sports team.
Laura is survived by her loving wife, Judy; mother, Jaqueline Herr; sister, Deborah Herr Brehm and her husband, Stephen; sister, Diane R. Herr; nieces and nephews: Matthew & Meredith, Christopher & Jenny, Jonathan & Kayla, Erin & Mike and Alisa & Brian.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Villalobos (Dog Rescue)” or “Sea Education Association” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
