Laura A. Tomashek, 68, of Newark, DE passed away Friday, October 19, 2013.
Born October 25, 1944 in Mitchell, SD, Laura was the daughter of the late George and Delphine (Schmidt) Putnam. Laura enjoyed gardening and traveling. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Thomas Tomashek; daughter, Traci Marr and her husband, Scott of Clifton Park, NY; two sons, Brett Tomashek of Saudi Arabia and Tyler Tomashek and his wife, Antonella of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, Kyle, Jordyn, Keeley, Maxwell, Amelia, and Mara; brother, Greg Putnam and his wife, Betty of Corsica, SD; sister, Mary Reif and her husband John of Armour, SD and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held in Laura’s honor from 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. A private family burial will be held in Armor, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be payable to the American Cancer Society and sent to the funeral home.

Laura was always so kind and loving. Her sincere and peaceful demeanor was very pleasant. I will never forget her smile and laugh which was contagious and pleasing to all. She had a way with words...simple...yet so meaningful. When Jeff's dad passed away in January she sent us a card. It said "Sadness does not last....Love does." Words cannot express the disbelief that I share with so many in knowing that Laurie has passed. She was always there with a ready smile and could make you laugh when things seemed at their worst. She had the gift of making everyone feel special and she did it with such grace. I know her family and friends were all she asked for in this life. Know that words cannot express the sadness I feel. Laurie has been a blessing to me for 36 years. From the minute my family moved into the house across the street, we were family in spirit. She was an extraordinary woman whose loving, simple nature made her a role model for all. She was content with all the twists and turns that life sometimes throws at you, handling it with such grace. For all these years we shared laughter, tears, children, pots of tea and even shoes. On the 25th anniversary of my breast cancer diagnosis ( which I had forgotten about), she sent me flowers to celebrate. Yes, she is one special lady!
