Larry M. Hyde, age 69, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Churchman’s Village in Newark, DE. He was born on March 19, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA to Edith (Gross) Mills and the late Louis Hyde.
Larry worked as a Marketing Analyst for 31 years at Delmarva Power until his retirement. A self taught musician, he enjoyed listening, composing and playing music. Larry was an early computer user and taught himself coding in the various computer languages. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed the science fiction and history. He was a big fan of “Star Trek” and rooted for the Pittsburgh Pirates through the good and the bad.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy; son, Darrell Hyde, and wife Denyce of Denver, CO; daughter, Lauren Napier, and husband Omar of Columbia, MD; mother, Edith Mills, of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Judith Chatlos, and husband Bob of Monroeville, PA; and four grandchildren.
Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 20, 2015 at New Ark United Church of Christ, 300 East Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may visit from 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
