Kenneth S. Knox, Sr., 63, of Newark, DE, passed away at home unexpectedly on January 27, 2015 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on October 16, 1951, Ken was the son of the late Clarence and Barbara Knox. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked for 30 years at Insteel Wire Products. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and served as treasurer and secretary. He enjoyed visiting Delaware Park and his hobbies included bowling, writing poetry, crossword puzzles and cars. Ken was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Janice; a son, Kenneth S. Knox, Jr. (Tina) of Newark; a daughter Kristy Curtis (Aaron) of Bear; 3 grandchildren, Audrey, Landon and Autumn; three brothers, Keith, Richard and Brad Knox; two sisters, Janet Tickle and Debbie Nickle; a close friend Jim Protack and Courtney Protack who was like a daughter to him.
A service honoring his life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Tuesday February 10, 2015 at 11:30 am with a visitation beginning at 10:30. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.gofundme.com/kennethknox or mailed to the funeral home.
