Kenneth Dale Dolinger, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1942, in Marion, VA to the late Jesse Monroe Dolinger, and Virginia Dare (Sage) Dolinger.
Kenneth was proud to serve in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963 aboard the Destroyer USS Brown. In his professional life, Kenneth dedicated 35 years to Chrysler as a Millwright, and Union Chief Steward. A proud member of the Southern Baptist community. An avid sports fan, he cheered on the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, and Boston Celtics with unwavering enthusiasm. He found solace in family gatherings, working with his hands, and engaging in conversations with friends and loved ones. Kenneth’s love for music, especially bluegrass and rock ‘n’ roll classics, echoed in his encouragement of his children’s music talents. Kenneth’s love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for the ocean, mountains, and old Ford hot rods. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from a game of softball to a quiet moment solving crossword puzzles. His love for biscuits & gravy and western movies painted a picture of a man who cherished tradition and nostalgia.
Those who knew Kenneth will remember him as a great father, grandfather, and husband. His love knew no bounds, and his presence brought joy and comfort to all who crossed his path. Patient, supportive, and endlessly giving, Kenneth enriched the lives of those around him with his kindness and wisdom.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Dolinger; son, Kenneth Dolinger, II (Linda); daughter, Melissa Christensen (Leonard); grandchildren: Brent Christensen, Marissa Christensen, Kyra Christensen, and Megan Christensen; brothers: Walter Dolinger, and William Dolinger; sister, Charlotte Wimmer.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Dolinger.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
