Kayla Brigitta Way, age 30, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. She was born on January 1, 1993 in Portsmouth, VA.

Kayla is survived by her mom, Lucrezia Alaimo-Hudson and step-father, Nick Hudson; dad, Stephen Brian Way and his sister Shannon Clapp; brother, Kyle Victor Way and his wife Jessica (Gunkel) Way; grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kayla will be remembered for being kind, witty, resourceful and for her “free spirit” life.

Kayla’s mom will remember her as a beautiful girl, always respectful and polite no matter what was going on in Kayla’s life. She often times bought random cards for her mom and always wanted to protect her mom till the end.

Kayla’s dad will remember her as his little girl who could be given a $1 at a flea market and Kayla would come back with presents for everyone else. He wondered how she could do that but she did.

Kayla played the piano, guitar, she loved to draw, she loved horses and all animals. She’d often yell at Nick, ”Don’t step on the ants!” She was notorious for saving the frogs from the pond filter. Every morning she would feed the fish while smoking a cigarette and drinking her coffee. She was (is) our free spirit!

Kayla is in a better place now, free of her pain and suffering. Let’s remember the beautiful person that she was.

Love you madly

I will always remember you my beautiful earth angel. You deserved more warmth than this cold world gave you, particularly from those who were there to “protect” you. There is a God, and you are with Him now. ♥️ You are the most strikingly gorgeous woman I have ever laid my eyes on, a one of a kind personality, and someone that just brought the point out of daily life. You made it worth it. “Love her madly”, I have been listening to this in your memory. I did love you madly; how could anyone that met you not! 🥲 Remember when we rode the handicapped scooters around at Walmart? The time the landlord had to turn the water off in the building because of your friend knocking down the bathroom sink? The whole building was pissed lol. That was so funny. Your bunny. I never understood that bunny, but you did. You loved that bunny. Your super cool purple wall. Us at Burlington Coat Factory just buying junk, but it made us happy! Grocery shopping, me trying to keep the guys away from you at Planet Fitness 😂. That lady I hired from Craigslist to clean, but it was still dirty after. The memories don’t stop. We tried didn’t we? Tanning, gym, nails, laundry, dinner, just everything with you. I love you so much, and I should have kept you from everything. I’m sorry. I should have maybe tried a little harder with all of this. I have a lot of regrets. I should have kept you with me, but I just didn’t know what to do. Every time I think of a memory of us, new ones pop up. I will never forget you. I’m honored to have been a part of your life. You impacted me in ways you never knew. Look after me please. 🙏 I will fondly hold our many memories in a special place of my heart.

i don't really have the words right now... and in all honesty, i don't know if i ever will. what i do know is this: i love you. i already miss you. i will forever miss my beautiful best friend and her beautiful spirit & love for life. i already feel your absence and it hurts so much. i love you. always have, always will. you were my best friend & the sister i longed for but never had until we met. rest easy, my darling i know one day i'll be laughing with you again.
