Kathleen was 95 years old and died at the Christiana Hospital of complications of the lungs. She was born on a farm on Parson Road, Landenberg PA owned by her late parents Walter and Lillian Mattson. She loved to play Bingo and do word search puzzles. She was an avid collector of Covered Bridges, especially Covered Bridges from Lancaster County PA. She was also a diehard Phillies fan and would not hesitate to tell you who was the cause of the loss.
She is preceded in death by her Husband John C. “Jack” Hendrickson of Landenberg PA. Seven siblings – Pearl Williams and husband Leon of New London PA, Marion Reber and husband Ralph of Landenberg PA, Walter “John” Mattson and wife Rhoda of Landenberg PA, William “Bill” Mattson and wife Billie Ruth of West Grove PA, Caroline Hendrickson and husband Walter of Kemblesville, PA, Florence Frye and husband Ed of Landenberg PA, and sister Helen who died at birth. She is also preceded in death by her great granddaughter Ganae Avato of Bear DE.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter – John Mattson and his wife Jean of Smyrna DE, Barbara Schneider and her late husband Robert of Henderson NC, Donald “Buck” Hendrickson and his wife Barbara of Delaware City DE, Charles Hendrickson and his wife Carol of Landenberg PA.
She has seven Grandchildren – Tina McQuaide and husband Dave of Kenton DE, Kelly Arterbridge and husband Shaun of Townsend DE, Jeffrey Schneider and wife Alice of Madison MS, Jeremy Schneider and wife Nancy of Henderson NC, Wayne Hendrickson and wife Dana of Nottingham PA, Amie Cox and husband Jesse of Milton DE, and Mathew Hendrickson and wife Kelly of Lincoln University PA.
She has Seventeen Great-Grandchildren – Dustin Warren and wife Jessica of Fort Myers FL, Dylan and Dalton Leager of Kenton DE, Andrew and Nathan Arterbridge of Townsend DE, Elle, Etta and Emmy Schneider of Madison MS, Hayden and Charolotte “Charlie” Schneider of Henderson NC, Callee and Nick Cox of Milton DE, Mason, Erik, and Nora Hendrickson of Lincoln University PA, and Cassidy Hendrickson of Nottingham PA.
She has one Great-Great Granddaughter – Eliana Cox of Milton DE.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Kemblesville UMC Cemetery – 1772 New London Rd, Kemblesville, PA.
