Kathleen Emily Catlett (68), of Elkton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Darby, PA on January 7, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Tracy Murphy and Isabella Marie Murphy (née Spering), and the devoted wife of Joseph Catlett, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Kathy dedicated 16 years of service as a Loan Officer with Wilmington Trust before her retirement. She was respected by both colleagues and clients alike for her dedication and strong work ethic.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and loved spending time playing KENO at various local establishments, including Market Street Cafe and McGlynn’s Pub. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling together to Laughlin, Nevada, where they made numerous fun filled memories visiting the casinos along the Colorado River. Kathy was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and rarely missed a game. She also enjoyed watching true crime dramas and had a deep and abiding love for dogs, caring for many throughout the years with tenderness, love and devotion.
Kathy was known for her strong will, quick wit, and honest nature. She never hesitated to speak her mind, but always did so from a place of love and sincerity. As she often joked, she was “too old for the filter.” Above all else, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Her love, humor, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Catlett; her children, Heather (Catlett) George, and Joseph Catlett and his wife, Ashley; her three granddaughters, Brianna, Kaleigh, and IsaBella George. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughter, Nova Lynn; her siblings, Michael Murphy, Robert Murphy, Patti Smythe, and Lori Murphy; and her cherished Great Danes, Noel and Harley along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Maryanne Murphy.
A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s memory to Cheyla’s Rescue Foundation, 3930 Red Lion Road, Bear, DE 19701; or crf@summit-vet.com.
