Karen Russell Hart, of Elkton, Maryland passed away in the comfort of her home, on November 2, 2024. She was a one-of-a-kind individual and fought a long and courageous battle with multiple cancers.
Karen was born on April 2, 1952 in Philadelphia to loving parents Rae and Harold Russell. Raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Karen graduated from Central Bucks East High School. She went on to receive her Bachelors’ Degree from Marrietta College, in Mariette, Ohio, where she proudly was appointed President of her Sorority / Alpha ZI Delta. Later becoming a member of the national advisory board.
In 1975 she married Gary Hart, her soulmate, and they remained best friends for over 49 years.
Karen had many interests and was passionate about Photography, Golf, and her love of Music. She also had a love for dogs and showered her pets with affection. Karen travelled with friends to take pictures around the world. She played a consistent golf game and recorded two Hole-in-Ones. She and Gary enjoyed many outstanding concerts with family and friends.
Professionally, Karen R. Hart carved out a place for herself, in a primarily male dominated industry. She became a manufacturer’s representative specializing in high end Photographic Equipment. She formed Neraki Corporation and flourished for over 40 years.
Later in life, Karen became involved in First Tee of Delaware. She absolutely loved teaching young people – not only the etiquette of golf, but lessons in life. In 2022, she was awarded the George H. W. Bush Volunteer of the Year honor,
Karen will be greatly missed, her warm demeanor, shimmering eyes, and vibrant smile will remain with all of us forever.
Karen was predeceased by her Parents Rae and Harold Russell, and her nephew Aaron Hart. She is survived by her Husband Gary Hart, Sister Melissa Russell and Brett Haddaway, Brother Keith Russell and Donna, Brother-in-laws, Larry Hart and Helene, Barry Hart and Anita, Stover Wiggins and Debbie LaPointe, Chris Wiggins and Melanie, and numerous Nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held at the R. T. Foard Funeral Home- 259 E Main Street, Elkton, MD on Monday, November 11, 2024. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 PM, with service to commence at Noon.
