Junior Lee Greer, age 79, of Newark, DE passed away July 30, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born in Holtwood, PA on September 6, 1932 to the late Chester and Mazie Ellen (Farmer) Greer.
Junior had a passion for woodworking and was a carpenter/construction worker by trade. He was a proud Army veteran who served our country during the Korean War. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and golf, taking pictures of the squirrels and birds from the porch, playing games and listening to blue grass. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his loving and devoted family.
Junior is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Lucile (Shoun) Greer; six daughters, Brenda Lee Morgan and her husband, Jeff of New Castle, DE, Jane Ellen Gambill of Rising Sun, MD, Deborah Lynn Summerford and her husband, David of Port Deposit, MD, Carol Diane Rakes of Rising Sun, MD, Sharon Kay Edwards and her husband Michael of Church Road, VA, and Jennifer Greer Adams and her husband, Lloyd of Elkton, MD.
He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Rachel Danielle Lightner, Hannah Marie Morgan, Gregory Scott and Robert Earl Price, Michele Lynn Fidanza, Jacqueline Michelle Menquale, David Arthur Rakes, Jr., Stephanie Nicole Greer, Daniel Lance Greenplate, Jr., Quincy Lee, Jayden Olivia, Jordan Gabrielle, Lloyd Roosevelt, and Tasia Andrea Adams; thirteen great grandchildren, Aries Nykole and Kylee Danielle Strong, Austin James and Jackson Allan Price, Hayley Olivia, and Savannah Elizabeth Price, Lia Milana Fidanza, Adriana Carmella, Dominick Antonio and Gianna Michelle Menaquale, Ella Brae Rakes, Nathanyel Curtis and Alexis Kay Greer-Eshelman; and three sisters, Lucy Levabelle Anderson, Dorothy Marybell Giffing, and Janet Lydia Kohler.
Along with his parents; Chester and Mazie, Junior was predeceased by his grandson, Andrew Joseph Lightner and his two brothers, Harvey Alden Greer, Sr. and Richard Eli Greer, Sr.
Services will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at 1 pm at R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 where family and friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice c/o the funeral home.
