June M. Lutz, 89, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at her home at Emeritus at White Chapel on October 29, 2012.
Born in London Ontario, Canada on February 17, 1923, June was the daughter of the late Philip Birch and Lucy Birch Wolf. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and was an active member of the community, volunteering in many organizations, such as the Junior Board at St. Francis, the University of Delaware Women’s Club, the Girl Scouts and also delivered Meals on Wheels. She had a wide variety of interests, among them, Bridge, reading, sewing, weaving, knitting and traveling. June visited many places throughout the world including Russia, Thailand, Egypt, New Zealand and much of Europe.
She is survived by her son, Peter Lutz and his fiancée Sandra McDonald of Elkton; a daughter Debbie Knight and her husband Jim of Newark; six grandchildren, Erin Hallam, Austin and Doug Knight, Alexis Rodriguez, Stephanie and Zachary Lutz; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce who died in 1992 and her son, Philip who died in 2004.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at White Chapel and to Compassionate Care Hospice.
A service honoring her life will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 276 S. College Ave., Newark, DE 19711 on Saturday November 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association c/o R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
