June Joyce Smith, age 85, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 14, 2018. She was born on June 3, 1933 in New Jersey.
June was a stay at home mom for many years until both of her children graduated from high school. She then went to work for Litman Jewelers at the Christiana Mall for 15 years. After retiring, June spent 8 years living with her son and daughter-in-law in North East. Her favorite pass-times were rocking on the deck and soaking up the sun, and spending time with her beloved grand-dog, Chance.
June is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Schumacher and her husband, Elmer, of Richmond, VA; son, Donald T. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, of North East, MD; grandchildren: Jessica M. Winder, Donald Thomas Smith, III, Danielle Winder, Jennifer Winder, Ashley Winder, Meredith Smith, and Caitlin Smith; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald T. Smith, Sr.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “Rising Sun Community Fire Department” and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
