June A. McCall Timmons (BJ) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her sister’s home in Elkton, MD following a brief battle with brain cancer. BJ was born July 27, 1942 in Wilmington, DE, to Robert I McCall Sr. and A. June Mastin McCall.
BJ was a proud resident of Newark, DE most her life. She was a 1960 graduate of Newark HS and was involved in their Class Reunions. After graduating HS she was employed by the DuPont Company working as a secretary. She then moved to Salisbury, MD where she would raise her 3 loving children. She was active in the Salvation Army and Salisbury Little League. There she would begin her lifelong career as a legal secretary working for various law firms in the area.
After her children were grown she moved back to Newark and continued her work in the legal field serving many law offices. She was employed as a legal secretary for Artesian Resources Corp.
BJ was a member of St Marks Methodist Church in Stanton and a member of the Legal Secretaries of DE. A gifted seamstress and “All Time Greatest Story Teller” she amused everyone she came in contact with. Her smile lit every room she entered. Diagnosed with polio as a child she never allowed that to be a crutch in her life. She could out jitterbug and two step anyone on the dance floor. Later in life, BJ made numerous trips to Ireland exploring her family’s Irish heritage. The genealogy information she passed on to her loved ones was a true gift.
BJ was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her sons, Richard D. O’Bryan of Sedona, AZ and Brian Timmons of Willards, MD; daughter, Julie D. Timmons-Banks of Willards, MD; grandchildren, Chase Dykes, Caroline Banks, Katherine Banks, Masha O’Bryan, Elena O’Bryan, Mazie Timmons, and Jackson Timmons; sisters, Joy Boyko and husband Frank of Elkton, MD, Sally Hart and husband John Wiggins of San Diego, CA and Debra (Debbie) Tiberi and husband Mario of Townsend, DE; brothers, Robert McCall, Jr. and wife Ann of Newark, DE and John McCall and wife Keko of San Diego, CA; aunts, Anna Eastburn of Milford, DE and Charlotte Mastin of Waynesville, NC and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care and Artesian Water for their support and generosity.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution checks may be made payable to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice and mailed to the funeral home.
BJ will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
