Johnny W. Kyte, age 73, of Rising Sun passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Heartland Hospice in Wilmington, Delaware.
Born June 24, 1941 in Mountain City, Tennessee, Johnny was the son of the late Conley and Villa Kyte.
He was a retired Boilermaker.
He was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 194, Rising Sun, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2259, Sebring, Florida, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2666 Oxford, Pennsylvania, and Oxford Gun Club.
He was an avid golfer and skeet shooter and played in the Harford-Cecil Shuffleboard League for many years.
Johnny is survived by his companion of 17 years, Betsy Tome of Rising Sun. He is also survived by four children, Johnny W. Kyte, Jr. and wife, Mary of Elkton, David Kyte and wife, Renee of North East, Kathy Hines and husband, Floyd of Charlestown, and Pam Maxwell of Elkton; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Kyte and wife, Mary Ann of Ormond Beach, FL. His extended family includes Kelli, R. Wayne, and Lisa Tome, four grandsons, and a great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Meow.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Kyte, who died in 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Mason Dixon American Legion Post 194, 338 East Main Street, Rising Sun 21911, with Chaplain Axel Wicks officiating. To send condolences please visit www.rtfoard.com.
