Captain John Robert Wadkins, age 68, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born May 17, 1949 in North Wilkesboro, NC, John was the son of the late Charley and Vera (Minton) Wadkins.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He went on to become a master plumber and working in the industry until his retirement. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love was being on the water. He spent countless hours on the Delaware Bay and on the Atlantic Ocean fishing. When he was indoors, he enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. His love of the Ocean was rivaled by his love for his grandchildren whom he cherished spending time with.

John is survived by his two children: Joel Wadkins and Carrie Day; four grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.

A family directed memorial gathering will be held from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Hacks Point Volunteer Fire Company, 1185 Glebe Road, Earleville, MD 21919. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made payable to “Seasons Hospice” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921.
