John Robert Kilby, age 93, of Oxford, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was born in Conowingo, MD on February 1, 1932 to the late Martin Fredrick Kilby and Lola Mae (McPeak) Kilby.
Many who knew John would describe him as many things; a great father, a loving husband, a devoted grandfather, loving great-grandfather and brother, but all who knew him would say he was a very generous man. It did not matter who it was, John would help anyone and everyone in a time of need. His family meant the world to John. He enjoyed camping up and down the east coast with his family and friends and being on the water, especially with his brother Fred. They would spend hours crabbing, fishing, and duck hunting on the Chesapeake Bay or North East and Chester River. No matter what they did or where they were, it was always a great day when John and Fred were together. John was an avid sports fan, watching the Philadelphia Phillies or NASCAR. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a proud member of the American Legion, Post 194, of Rising Sun, Maryland for over 50 years.
John is survived by his two daughters; Sally McIntyre and her husband, Tim, and Mary Beth Kilby; two grandchildren: Ian McIntyre and Lindsay Eidson and her husband Ethan; great-granddaughter, Lyla Eidson; and brother, Fred W. Kilby. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Miller Kilby.
Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the “American Legion Mason Dixon Post 194” and mailed to 338 E Main Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. To send online condolences, please visit www.rtfoard.com.
