John Randal Caylor, of Lewes, DE, passed away in his home on November 4, 2024. He was born July 19, 1945, in Cottonwood, AZ to the late George Edward Caylor and Florence Vivian (Jones) Caylor. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of more than 49 years: Carolyn; his sons: Jeffrey and his wife Rebekah, Mark, Timothy and his wife Bethany, and George and his wife Melissa; ten grandchildren: Lily, Callie, Ashley, Peyton, Everett, Grady, Aspen, Luca, Judah, and George; and his brothers: Bob and his wife Clara, Norman and his wife Dena, Larry and his wife Anne Marie, and Jim and his wife Margaret as well as many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother: Bruce; and his sister; Janice.
John is a United States Army Veteran, having served from 1966 to 1969. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. John worked in the mining industry for more than 40 years, retiring as Executive Vice President of Safety and Industrial Health for Freeport-McMoRan in 2015. In addition to working in the private sector, John served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor MSHA during the first term of the George W. Bush administration. After retiring in 2015, he and his wife moved to Delaware to be closer to their children and grandchildren. John was an active member of Sussex County Bible Church and a man of strong faith who impacted all he came across. We grieve for the hole he has left behind, but we do not grieve like those who do not have hope! (1 Thessalonians 4:13). We know that he is in eternal glory with his savior Jesus Christ.
